This Dramatic Portrait
In the struggle between spirituality and money, the winner is obvious for Mammon in this director's delightfully tacky biopic of the disgraced televangelist and her felon spouse. Garfield acts as the venal Jim, who proclaims at the beginning, claiming divine approval for wealth. Both individuals commence capitalizing on the American public's Christian beliefs. It's a spectacle of bad interior design, excessive cosmetics and insincerity, yet Chastain achieves to depict Tammy Faye as a sympathetic figure. Next Tuesday, late night, the Film4 channel
